Users of Facebook tend to have an understanding of audience and rhetorical situation, or a better understanding of those concepts. This can be useful in teaching students the basics of composition. If the students already have a decent grasp of things like exigence: the reason to talk, rhetoric: the way you get someone to see your point of view, audience: who you are talking to, and rhetorical situation, then they will most likely succeed better in the class.
